How long have you owned Dare Waxing & Tanning?

I opened Dare in Oceana Walk Arcade in September 2012. So it's nearly our 5th Birthday!

What inspired you to open a store, and to be part of the industry?

After working in the industry for 10 years, I decided to try it myself; to create a business around the areas of beauty that I was most passionate about - waxing and tanning. It turns out that there are many people who prioritise both these services. 

What do you love most about your job and the industry you work in?

Most people would agree that waxing isn't the most pleasant of beauty services, but DAMN you feel good when it's done. A great wax has the ability to make you feel refreshed, more confident and silky smooth for weeks, and I love helping my clients feel that. These days with products or services, people want to see instant results, and that's exactly what we provide.

Are you excited for the upcoming races? How are your clients?

I love this time of year! The weather is amazing and everyone wants to look hairless and beautifully brown.

Brides and their bridal parties, high school formals, race days, fashion catwalks, charity balls etc., Cairns is filled with events this time of year! Everyone wants to look their best, and I love helping them achieve that. Nothing better than a great tan to go with a great outfit for race season!

Are there any beauty tips you would recommend to those getting ready for the races?

Tanning Tip - Let the professionals do it!

Ladies, if you have never self-tanned before - don't choose the night before the races to give it a go. It will almost always result in streaks, missed patches and orange hands. Spraying your tan on is the best way to ensure great coverage and the most natural look possible. We also have the best tan solution (winks).

Beauty and Waxing Tip - Exfoliate!

Get rid of all that dead dull skin from your entire body. It will help give you the best waxing outcome; resulting in super smooth legs with no hairs missed and no ingrown hairs. Exfoliating will also allow your tan and makeup to go on smoothly - nobody wants to see a blob of spray tan stuck on a patch of dry skin on your knees or elbows.

Are there any mottos or quotes that you live by? Perhaps words of wisdom that you share with both your staff and clientele?
